Ever since the publication of the Institute of Medicine’s groundbreaking report “To Err is Human” in 1999, the healthcare industry has adopted the improvement of patient safety as a major priority. HCIF has been in the forefront of patient safety efforts in Southeastern Pennsylvania by organizing large-scale regional collaborative initiatives to pool the resources, knowledge, and energy of hospitals and other providers. Since 2006, this work has been funded by the Partnership for Patient Care, a collaboration with Independence Blue Cross and the ECRI Institute, in order to accelerate the effective adoption of evidence-based clinical practices.
