An Energy Planning Workshop for Health Care Facilities was held on November 19, 2009 at PECO headquarters in Philadelphia. Hospital financial decision-makers and facility managers heard presentations and received resources to incorporate upcoming electricity deregulation changes and responsible energy management strategies into their respective organizational plans. Speakers included Phil Eastman, Director of Economic Development at PECO; national speaker Nick DeDominicis from Practice Greenhealth; Randy Haines, Energy Manager at Thomas Jefferson University; Kevin McCarthy, Director of Building Systems & Operations at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; and Jan Kaputkin, owner of Health Resources Network, Inc. The workshop was developed by the Health Care Improvement Foundation in partnership with the Delaware Valley Healthcare Council of the Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania, and co-sponsored with PECO and the Hospitals and Higher Education Facilities Authority of Philadelphia.
