The annual Partnership for Patient Care Leadership Summit was held on March 16, 2011 at The College of Physicians of Philadelphia and attended by representatives of 30 hospitals and healthsystems. The keynote speakers included Steve Kreiser, CDR (USN, Ret.), MBA, MS, senior consultant at Healthcare Performance Improvement, LLC, who presented on high-reliability leadership with Mike Laign, President & CEO, Holy Redeemer Health System.
 

An update on the PAVE Project, which launched in May 2010, included a panel presentation with the three chairs of the PAVE Project Workgroups and moderated by Patty Yurchick, RN, MBA, CPHQ, HCIF’s Director of Quality Programs, and the PAVE Project Director.

 
Also on the agenda at this year's summit were highlights of the Partnership for Patient Care’s initiative on the CDI Collaborative, which launched in November 2009; and an introduction of the Partnership for Patient Care’s newest initiative, CT Radiation Dose Safety, presented by Kathy Shostek, senior risk management analyst at the ECRI Institute.
 
Judith O’Donnell, MD, Hospital Epidemiologist and Director of the Department of Infection Prevention and Control at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, presented on Penn Presbyterian’s winning entry for the 2010 Patient Safety Award, “A Successful Multidisciplinary Approach to Decreasing Orthopedic Surgical Site Infections in Joint Replacements”. Storyboards from the top ten entries of the 2010 Delaware Valley Patient Safety Award were also on display.
