Teams from Southeastern Pennsylvania hospitals and health systems attended the March 16th Partnership for Patient Care Leadership Summit at The Down Town Club in Philadelphia. Part of the agenda included an update on the multi-year, high-reliability performance initiative that began in 2009. Keynote speaker Marcia Delk, MD, MBA, Senior Vice President of Quality Affairs and Chief Quality Officer at WellStar Health System, presented on WellStar's patient safety culture journey with Healthcare Performance Improvement (HPI). Several of the hospitals that conducted the HPI diagnostic assessment during 2009 participated in a panel that discussed implementation of the results from that process.
Also on the agenda at this year's summit were highlights of the Partnership for Patient Care’s initiatives on the Pennsylvania Pressure Ulcer Partnership; the Regional C. difficile Collaborative, which launched in November 2009; and the PAVE Project, Preventing Avoidable Episodes, set to begin in May 2010.
Crozer-Keystone Health System, winner of the 2009 Delaware Valley Patient Safety Award, presented on their submission, "Making a Great Catch for Patient Safety". Storyboards from the top ten entries of the 2009 Delaware Valley Patient Safety Award were also on display.
