Representatives of hospitals, nursing homes, and LTACs attended a conference on November 12, 2009, at the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, which served as the launch of a 12- to 18-month regional collaborative aimed at preventing C. difficile infections, with funding provided by the Partnership for Patient Care.
The featured speaker was Carolyn Gould, MD, a CDC medical epidemiologist, who discussed the latest evidence in the prevention and treatment of C. difficile infections. John Gums, PharmD, discussed effective prevention strategies, including the use of antimicrobials.
